Exploring the diversity of desert Orthoptera in Pakistan
Deserts are special habitats with high degrees of diversity and endemism. Especially, many groups of Orthoptera have diversified into many endemic species in deserts across the globe. However, many of the larger deserts are understudied and hence likely harbor many undescribed species. Here, we target the large deserts in Pakistan to study Orthoptera diversity. We use an integrative approach including DNA barcoding and mophological and bioacoustics data to understand the local desert faunas.
