Botanical Garden of the University of Hamburg
The Botanical Garden of the University of Hamburg (since 2012 "Loki-Schmidt-Garten") includes two locations: The tropical greenhouses at the Dammtor train station in the green space "Planten un Blomen" and the outdoor area in Klein-Flottbek. During the summer months, the "Café Palme" invites visitors for refreshments. Admission is free.

Herbarium Hamburgense
The Herbarium Hamburgense (HBG) is one of the largest herbaria in Germany. It contains more than 1.8 million specimens. Among them are numerous types from tropical areas such as Brazil, Borneo, India, Australia, Africa and the Pacific Islands. The herbarium was founded in 1883 by the consolidation of several private collections. In 1919, the herbarium became part of the newly founded University of Hamburg.

Loki Schmidt House
The Loki Schmidt House on the grounds of the Botanical Garden in Klein-Flottbeck is a museum for useful plants. The museum was named after Hannelore (Loki) Schmidt, wife of former German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt and honorary professor at the University of Hamburg. The house shows the diversity and importance of useful plants for humans, and there are also regular temporary exhibitions.

Planten un Blomen
The park "Planten un Blomen" (Plattdeutsch for plants and flowers) is 45 hectares in size and borders on the exhibition grounds, university quarter and the St. Pauli district. With lawns, streams and lakes, the grounds are considered Hamburg's "green lungs." Themed gardens such as the Japanese Garden, the Mediterranean Terraces or the Rose Garden make the complex unique. The park offers various leisure activities, concerts and gastronomy.

Abaton Cinema
The Abaton opened in October 1970 and is considered one of the first art house cinemas in Germany. Today, the Abaton is a fixture in Hamburg's cultural life and mainly shows films outside the mainstream, often in the original. There are also frequent theme nights with filmmakers. The cinema is located directly in the university district.
