Citizen science and conservation in Hamburg

LIB researchers are involved in several citizen science and local conservation projects in which they work side by side with Hamburg residents. The goal is to inventory the fauna and flora in Hamburg, in particular its moors and other water and land areas, to aid species preservation.

Research Program

Research, explain, conserve—under this guiding principle, the Leibniz Institute for Biodiversity Change Analysis (LIB) has established an integrated research program dedicated to the study of biodiversity. In our 12 research departments, we investigate organisms and their habitats, from right here on the Elbe River to the species-rich tropics.

Scientific Infrastructure

Morphology laboratory, molecular laboratory and imaging lab: The Leibniz Institute for Biodiversity Change Analysis has extensive laboratory equipment for scientific research work and the digitization of scientific collection objects.
