Ecological Voluntary Year (FÖJ)
LIB offers a wide range of opportunities for those who want to do a voluntary ecological year after school. With its three FÖJ positions in different areas, LIB provides young people between the ages of 16 and 25 with insights into the work processes and structure of a scientific research institution. Applications can be submitted to the FÖJ application portal from January of the year in question.
At the Research and Science Unit, the FÖJ student works together with scientists from the different departments. The tasks range from field research to the analysis of sample material to activities in the administration of scientific collections.
One of the FÖJ positions is in the Public Relations Department. Here the FÖJer has the opportunity to learn how to write short articles for the website, but also how to organise and carry out events.
The FÖJ student in the "Scientific Education" position works together with the museum's educators. His or her responsibilities include, for example, developing a guided tour of the Museum of Nature - Zoology or coordinating larger events such as the "Long Night of the Museums".
No FÖJ-positions available at LIB for the time being
Unfortunately, we will not be able to welcome any new FÖJers at LIB for the time being, as next year we will be merging with the Zoological Research Museum Alexander König (ZFMK) in Bonn and will be accepted into the Leibniz Association. We are working on making this offer possible again soon.
