Adventure taxidermy - An afternoon with Matthias Preuß

The special exhibition "People make museums" offers an exciting look behind the scenes at the Museum der Natur Hamburg. This time, zoology takes centre stage and everything revolves around the topic of taxidermy.

On 24 March from 3:30 to 4:30 pm, young explorers can find out how taxidermist Matthias Preuß prepares animals for research and exhibition. Particularly exciting: six stories directly from the workshop are available to choose from - and the children decide for themselves which one they want to hear. What is real about the chicken in the display case? What do cow pats have to do with taxidermy? We uncover one or two of the secrets of taxidermy - and Matthias Preuß unpacks the everyday life of a taxidermist in the midst of the zoological animals.

An educational and entertaining afternoon that immerses children in the world of natural science and shows how exciting and creative working in a museum can be.
