Some animals are hunted or die out because their habitat becomes too small. Blind and visually impaired children and young people can explore this interplay between humans and the animal world in the collection of the Museum of Nature - Zoology. This guided tour is primarily aimed at blind and visually impaired children and young people and features animal specimens, taxidermy blanks, crawling figures, hunting tools, whale baleen, skull casts and other acoustic and tactile objects. How big is a blue whale? And how soft is a big cat or a polar bear? How are dead animals prepared? And how can this help us humans to pay more attention to the protection of living animals? Specially trained guides lead the small group through the collection. This programme is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
