The geological exhibition at the Museum der Natur Hamburg provides an insight into the important geological and palaeontological research collections. Here, fossils and sediments tell stories about the development of the earth and life. Highlights of the exhibition include dinosaur fossils, amber insects and prehistoric horses. The geology of Hamburg's surrounding area is also covered, as are Germany's famous fossil deposits.
The exhibition provides visitors with a basic understanding of geological processes, climate change, evolution and the development of biodiversity. Like zoology and mineralogy, geology has been part of the Leibniz Institute for the Analysis of Biodiversity Change since July 2021.
