Sponsors

Due to a lack of staff, the display collection is only open to the public a few hours a week. The Sunday opening of the show collection goes back to an initiative of the sponsoring association (Verein zur Förderung des Mineralogischen Museums e.V.). Since 2004, sponsors have been recruited each year to provide financial support for a private guard service to look after the display collection on Sundays. After the ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius and subsequently the Hermann Reemtsma Stiftung became involved with the museum, it has now been supported by Aurubis AG, Hamburg (until March 2009 the Norddeutsche Affinerie) since August 2007.

The Mineralogical Museum of the University of Hamburg is supported in every way by the Verein zur Förderung des Mineralogischen Museums e.V..
