ZM 004 | Dinosaurs and their relatives: crocodiles, birds, lizards and snakes
Dinosaurs populated large parts of the Earth from 230 million to 66 million years ago. Most impressive are the large specimens of Tyrannosaurus Rex, which grew up to 14 meters long and 6 meters high, or the giant herbivorous sauropods. But the world of dinosaurs also consisted of other animals such as pterosaurs, fish dinosaurs - one of which can be seen as a model and fossil - flipper lizards and mosasaurs. In this tour the most important data about dinosaurs are presented. Then the way of evolution of dinosaurs to the close and distant relatives of dinosaurs, crocodiles and birds, lizards and snakes is followed and explained.
Note
There is a very good cast of a Tarbosaur skeleton in the Geological-Paleontological Museum in the Geomatikum (Federal Road 55). This museum is open during the semester Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. A visit to this collection makes a good complement to the museum talk.
