Schizomids, or shorttailed whipscorpions, are a little-known group of arachnids with roughly 250 described species. These animals are usually collected from leaf litter in tropical and subtropical habitats across the world, although there are also many cave species. Schizomids are soft-bodied and quite small (< 5mm) but have long pedipalps that are used as a tactile organ. The LIB collection comprises eight species of which three are represented by types.
