Pentastomids, or tongue worms, are a group of obligate parasites that live in the respiratory tracts of reptiles, birds and mammals. Roughly 130 species are known worldwide and some of these occasionally parasitize humans. The systematic position of pentastomids has long proved controversial but recent molecular research suggests that they are actually crustaceans. The LIB collection comprises 19 species and 7 types of this enigmatic group of animals.
