Mountains and rainforests, caves and tropical heat: In the region of the partially protected Matang Mountains, flora and fauna are particularly rich and diverse .The area belongs to the state of Sarawak, Malaysia. Professor Dr. Alexander Haas, head of the Department of Herpetology, has published a new compact guide to the amphibian fauna found in the area in cooperation with researchers from the universities in Kuching (Malaysia) and Brunei Darussalam as well as the Natural History Museum in Bern.
The compact booklet shows many of the species in true-to-life color, as well as some of the associated tadpoles. In addition, there are general and specific descriptions of each animal's appearance, colors, mode of reproduction and conservation status. The publication is aimed not only at biologists and researchers, but also at nature lovers and tourists who want to take a handy picture identification book with them on site. The small book is ideal for exploring the rich amphibian fauna of the area.
