Juan-Ángel Navarro: Homo erectus, Neanderthals and Co. - The paths of the biocultural development of the genus Homo
The focus of the special tour is on the potential connections between climate change and geological, geographical and biological development processes, which could ultimately have led to the emergence of today's only globally widespread primate species.
Some particularly interesting aspects of this huge subject area will be addressed on the evening, such as group sizes, the development of social behaviour, the relationships between the development of Stone Age industries, transmission, language and cognitive abilities, the Ice Age as an evolutionary stressor and the consequences of sedentarisation.
Juan-Ángel Navarro will incorporate the latest findings from palaeogenetics, climate research and prehistoric archaeology and take you on a short journey through our long, exciting family history.
