Día de los Muertos: Animals between worlds

The Mexican Festival of the Dead, ‘Día de los Muertos’, begins at the end of October. A few days beforehand, the Museum der Natur Hamburg will be exploring the scientific perspective on animals as companions, guardians and symbolic figures straddling the boundary between life and death.

Following a short talk on the festival and the role of animals in pre-Columbian cultures, our expert Montse M. Buvandel will guide us through the world of jaguars and other animals in the zoological collection – using selected exhibits of Mexican animal species.
