From 3 to 18 October 2026, the annual ‘Seiteneinsteiger’ reading festival for children and young people will take place at various venues across Hamburg.
The Museum of Nature Hamburg will once again be taking part this year with two readings.
Unfortunately, both sessions are already fully booked.

Emy is marvelling at the skeleton of a Triceratops in the museum – when suddenly, magical sparks of curiosity fly and the dinosaur girl Trixi comes to life. Together, they explore exciting facts about dinosaurs, but nobody must realise that Trixi is coming to school with her. With the dinosaur exhibition fast approaching, time is running out: will the pair manage to answer all the questions in time and be back before Trixi turns back into a dinosaur? A new adventure from the ‘Fantastically Explored’ series (illustrations: Lena Hesse).
As a child, Birk Grüling was determined to become a researcher. A series of detours eventually led him to writing.
His passion for extinct animals, lost civilisations and crazy inventions has remained, however. Fortunately, as a science journalist and children’s author, he can indulge it to the full – even if dinosaur skeletons and cat mummies only come to life in his imagination!
