Sex and sexuality beyond the binary in the animal kingdom
Lecture
Prof Dr Marie Herberstein

When we think of animal diversity, we often think of biodiversity - many different species that look different. Diversity also extends to diversity in terms of sex and sex determination as well as sexual behaviour. In this talk, I will illustrate this diversity and highlight how complex and variable sex and sexual behaviour can be in animals. Understanding the diversity in nature can help us to understand the diversity of gender and sexuality in humans.
